Compression and In-plane Seismic Behaviour of Ashlar Three-leaf Stone Masonry Walls

چکیده
There is a lack of knowledge regarding the parameters needed for effective seismic performance assessment historical stone masonry buildings. The paper presents results an extensive experimental campaign consisting four compression and fifteen in-plane cyclic shear tests on three-leaf ashlar walls its constituents. morphology, level vertical load, testing boundary conditions were systematically varied, their influence load-bearing deformation capacities, stiffness, ductility energy dissipation was analysed. Good consolidation inner core enables failure mechanism to occur without decisive out-of-plane damage. applied significantly modes large capacities obtained, whereas transverse connections in case do not overall lateral response walls.

Influence of Masonry Infills Walls on the Seismic Behaviour of Multi-storey Waffle Slabs Rc Buildings
In this work, we analyze the influence of masonry infill walls on the seismic performance of waffle slabs reinforced concrete (RC) framed structures. We analyze buildings of three, five and eight storeys, which are representative for a big number of housings in Barcelona, Spain. Capacity spectra have been obtained by performing pushover analyses and we have used a simplified procedure to obtain...
متن کاملA Numerical Model for Multi-leaf Stone Masonry
ABSTRACT This paper presents a non-linear finite element material model for the analysis of the mechanical behavior of multi-leaf masonry, which is quite frequently used in ancient stone masonry buildings. A damage model, previously developed by some of the authors for brittle materials (namely, concrete) was adapted to fit the experimental stress−strain behavior of stone masonry. To this end, ...
متن کاملMulti-Scale Analysis of In-plane Behaviour of Tuff Masonry
Various methodologies are available today in engineering professional practice to analyse structures, in particular in the field of masonry structures. Many of the methods are derived from reinforced concrete frames but sometimes they suffer of lack of comprehensive experimental validation due to difficulties to simulate the many different kinds of masonries and they suffer from lack of critica...
متن کاملin-plane behavior of confined masonry walls with and without opening
confined masonry buildings are used in rural and urban areas of iran. they performed almost satisfactoryduring past moderate earthquakes of iran. there is not a methodology in iranian seismic code (standard 2800-3rdedition) to estimate their capacities quantitatively. in line with removing this constraint, an attempt is made to studyin-plane behavior of two squared confined masonry walls with a...
متن کاملHomogenization of Interlocking Masonry Walls
In a previous publication the authors proposed a continuous model for describing the mechanical behaviour of ‘Running Bond’ masonry walls. Here a different masonry structure is considered. This structure is ‘bi-atomic’ in the sense that its pattern consists in two kind of blocks with different. The homogenization by differential expansions technique is used for obtaining an equivalent Cosserat ...
